ROOTS - FLIPMU
Roots was developed in 2009, and is an installation for the Brick Table multi-touch interface. The installation allows for multiple people to collaborate in making music by influencing a generative system, and makes it possible to create evolving sound collages and compositions.
When a user presses their finger on the table's surface, a vine-like structure will branch out and maneuver around the surface, actively triggering sounds and loops. Additionally, objects placed on the surface influence the the growth of the roots, and provide a secondary means of control over the musical outcome. Rotating these objects will either attract or repel the roots.
Roots uses Processing and was featured on processing.org exhibition page.
